Liquid waterproofing and roof coatings
Roofline applies liquid waterproofing and coating systems to commercial roofs across Barnsley. Cold-applied and seamless, they extend the life of tired flat, metal and complex roofs by years, at a fraction of the cost and disruption of replacement.

A new roof surface without a new roof
Many commercial roofs are structurally fine and simply worn out at the surface: felt that has crazed, a metal roof with rusting edges, a flat roof with too many details to re-membrane easily. A liquid-applied system is rolled or sprayed on cold, cures into a seamless elastic membrane, wraps around every upstand and pipe, and carries manufacturer guarantees of 10 to 25 years depending on the system and build-up.
- Polyurethane (PU) liquid membranes
- PMMA fast-cure systems for cold or time-critical work
- Silicone and acrylic roof coatings for metal and fibre cement
- Full roof encapsulation over felt, asphalt, concrete and metal
- Detail work around plant, rooflights, outlets and upstands
- Gutter lining in liquid systems
- Cut-edge corrosion protection as part of a full coating
Preparation is everything. A coating is only as good as the surface it bonds to, so we clean, repair, prime and test before a drop of the system goes down.

Building owners and managers who need a worn roof to last another 10 to 25 years without the cost or disruption of stripping it.
Systems and where they fit
PU liquid membrane
The general-purpose choice for felt, asphalt and concrete flat roofs. Tough, elastic, long guarantees.
PMMA
Cures in under an hour even in cold weather. Ideal for gutters, details and work that has to be finished the same day.
Metal roof coatings
Silicone or acrylic systems that seal laps, fixings and cut edges on profiled metal and fibre cement roofs.
Gutter lining
A seamless liquid lining that stops leaking joints in valley and boundary gutters without replacing the gutter.
Questions we are asked about liquid waterproofing
Is a liquid coating a proper repair or just paint?
A proper liquid membrane is not paint. It is a reinforced elastic membrane, typically 1.5 to 3 mm thick, that bonds to the prepared roof and carries a manufacturer's guarantee. Cheap roof paints exist and do not last. We only use systems from established manufacturers and apply them to their specification.
How long will a coated roof last?
Manufacturers guarantee their systems for 10, 15, 20 or 25 years depending on the build-up you choose. The roof needs to be structurally sound and dry first, which is what the survey establishes.
Can you coat a metal roof with rusting edges?
Yes, and it is one of the best uses of a coating. The cut edges are treated first, then the whole roof or the affected laps are coated to seal fixings and joints. See cut-edge corrosion treatment.
Book a site survey
A survey and written condition report is the starting point for every commercial job. It tells you what you have, what it needs and what it will cost, so you can plan and budget properly.
We plan the work so the premises stay operational: phased areas, sealed off zones, dust and noise controlled, and out-of-hours or weekend working where the site needs it.
