This notice explains what happens to your information when you contact Roofline or use this website. It is written to match what the website actually does, and it will be updated if that changes.
Who we are
Roofline is a roofing business serving Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The legal entity, registered address and contact email for data protection queries will be published here once confirmed. Until then, please use the telephone number on the contact page for any privacy question.
What information we collect and why
When you call or WhatsApp us we receive your phone number and whatever you tell us or send us, including photographs of your property. We use it to answer your enquiry, arrange a visit and provide a quote.
When you use the enquiry form on this website the details you type (name, phone number, postcode, optional email, the work you need and any description) are sent to our website host and emailed to us using an email delivery service, Resend, which processes the message on our behalf. Your IP address and the page you sent it from are included so we can spot misuse. If that email service is unavailable, the form instead opens WhatsApp on your device with the same details ready for you to send; nothing goes through WhatsApp unless you press send. WhatsApp is operated by Meta Platforms and has its own privacy policy.
When we do work for you we hold your name, address, contact details, details of the work, photographs of the roof before and after, quotes and invoices. We use these to carry out the contract, to keep records for accounting and guarantee purposes, and to comply with legal obligations.
Lawful basis
We process enquiry information because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and to perform that contract. We keep records after the work because we have a legitimate interest in doing so and legal obligations to keep accounting records.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. It stores a single value in your browser's session storage to avoid showing the WhatsApp chat prompt more than once per visit; this is not shared with anyone and is deleted when you close the browser. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the fonts load.
Sharing
We do not sell or share your information for marketing. We share it only where needed to do the work, for example with a scaffolding or waste contractor who needs your address, with the service providers that host this website and deliver our email (Vercel and Resend), or where the law requires it.
Retention
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within twelve months. Records of completed work are kept for as long as any guarantee runs and for six years after for accounting purposes.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we have no legal need to keep it. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.
